My ED specialist re-booked (our appointment was supposed to be friday, and now it's today), so I have my appointment in one hour. I procrastinated on doing the second part of my therapy "homework" until this morning. I was to write a therapeudic letter (not to be sent) to my father about how the things he said and did affected me. I tried to do it a week or so ago but never got past "Dear Dad". So, today I took a different approach (I guess the pressure of an upcoming time limit helped) and started with "To my father". Saying "Father" instead of "Dad" makes it less personal and less intimidating. So, on I went about how fathers are supposed to love their children unconditionally no matter what their opinions were, and how he damaged my self-confidence, made me feel worthless, body-loathing, etc. I also mentioned how he instilled the Beauty Myth in me, and how his relationship with my mom in the later years of their marriage made me unable to distinguish a good romantic relationship from a bad one, and therefore damaged my future relationships, because most of us would agree that alcoholics and disturbed molestation victims weren't part of a recipe for relationship success. I shall post the actual letter later- I had to type it on my downstairs computer because even though it doesn't have internet, it's the only one with a printer. I wish it had internet as well, but that'll come when I find that darn disk that's floating around my disasterous room somewhere. In my letter, I also managed to use my new words "acclivity" and "abstemious". Large vocabulary!
Chris and I went to CFP yesterday and played lots and lots of games (mostly that we weren't all that great at, like pool). It was lots of fun... we bought candy with the tickets that we won, and ate them on the way to Hana Sushi for lunch. The weirdest thing was that we were talking about how it had gone downhill since Kate left, and how she was working at Stream, and then she walks in! Like, what are the chances? Anyway, Chris and I chatted and ate and chatted and ate. It was a good time. On the way home we grooved to J.T. and his latest "Sexyback", which I love. We got some strange looks and laughter, but it's all good :)
When I got home, I started staining the fence again, and not too much later, Kate came over to help. We got most of it done but it was sooooo hot out! It didn't help that in the last minute of staining, Kate flipped a bunch of it into the air and onto my face and shirt! Crazy crazy. Anyway, that was fun to catch up with her again. What a social day I had! Then mom and I went to dinner and I finished staining the rest of the fence that took two hours because it was latice-work. It looks fantastic though, and I shall show you pictures very soon, I promise! It looks a bit like mahogany, and is especially gorgeous during the orange light of a sunset.
Anyway, I have to get going. My appointment is soon, and afterwards I'm going to have to actually do work or something at the mobile. Jeez! Later this week I'll be painting our neighbour's bathroom :)
