Duet May 2009 - 愛(I) Love You情 (friendship)
Chinen Yuri x Morimoto Ryutaro
My image of Ryutaro is still a kid (Chinen)
You tell me how cute I am but it’s hard for me to react to that!? (Morimoto)
Chinen: Ryutaro, you used to call me by just “Chinen!” when we first met but you started calling me “Chinen kun” all the sudden. Why is that? You can just call me by Chinen.
Morimoto: Hmm, did I? I forgot. Anyways, do you remember the day we first met?
Chinen: When was that?
Morimoto: It was a shoot for a magazine and we had to hold hands even though it was our first time meeting each other, remember?
Chinen: Ah, I remember that!
Morimoto: We both didn’t know each other’s names, age, and we’ve never talked before. I was like “Who is this person I’m holding hands with?” (laughs) Also, that was my first shoot.
Chinen: It wasn’t my first but that was when I happened to come by from Shizuoka
Morimoto: I was at a zoo that day (laughs). I got a “we’re doing a shoot so come by” kind of call out of the blue so I had to go to the studio from the zoo. I didn’t know the way too well and I was still 9 years old, it was hectic (laughs)
Chinen: That means I was 11 years old. We started talking to each other more around Jr concert at Butokan 3 years ago. Ryutaro used to be daring and very energetic kid back then. If anything, I was the one who didn’t talk much (laughs). Why are you quiet lately?
Morimoto: Hmm? Even if you ask me why, I don’t really know (laughs). I guess I tell myself “wait a minute” and think about what’ll happen before I start play around. I matured.
Chinen: Nah, my image of Ryutaro is still a primary schooler (laughs). I think I’ll always have this younger image of you for a long time…
Morimoto: You’re right, 2 years difference is pretty heavy. Remember the time you said “Ryutaro, let’s go eat lunch together” and we ate hamburgers? I was in a mood where I wanted to be alone that time but Chinen kun invited me so I thought I guess it’s okay since Chinen kun might be easy to talk to
Chinen: Ahh, really? That’s kind of nice (laughs). Yup, we ate hamburgers and played games. Even though I don’t invite others that often.
Morimoto: I’m also not a type of person to invite anyone too (laughs)
Chinen: That’s because you’d have to think of the plan if you invite someone out (laughs). I think it’s more fun to follow others. By the way, this has been bothering me for a while but you know how the edges of your mouth go down when you laugh? The edges of your mouth should go up when you smile but why do yours go down? Actually, what do you have to do to have a skilled smile like that? (laughs)
Morimoto: They go up sometimes. It goes up when I’m actually smiling and it goes down when I’m having a bitter smile (laughs). For example, it’s when I laugh like “aah, hahaha” to something I didn’t think it was funny but everyone else laughs.
Chinen: I see, I get it know! You have two types of laughs. When the edges of your mouth go down, it means you’re not laughing from your heart (laughs)
Morimoto: Chinen kun, you still sit on everyone’s laps.
Chinen: I don’t think many people know this but I sit on Ryutaro’s laps too (laughs)
Morimoto: Yup, by force (laughs). But I’ve been offering like “ah, today is my lap. Go ahead” lately.
Chinen: The age doesn’t matter, whether they are older or younger than me, it all depends on if they look comfortable to sit on that day. After I feel relaxed, I’ll move on to another lap (laughs).
Morimoto: Chinen kun is still heavy for his size so my legs do go numb. Well, I guess it’s okay since he’s cute (laughs). Oh yeah, Chinen kun, you say “cute~” to me from time to time but it’s hard for me to react to that because Chinen kun is cuter (laughs).
Chinen: That’s because I really do think you’re cute and that just comes out in words. I will accept the fact that I’m cute though (laughs). Everyone’s pretty cute too
Morimoto: Okay, I’ll respond with “Thank you. Chinen kun, you’re cute too” with my upward smile (laughs).
Chinen: Okay! Have you had something enjoyable that made Ryutaro burst out into a real smile lately?
Morimoto: I guess when I played catch ball with Shintaro (his little brother). I’m definitely better than him but Shintaro says “Onii chan (big bro) you’re bad at this. I’m better than you at this.” We also went to a batting center and Shintaro always says “let’s have a battle!”
Chinen: That’s so like Shin chan. The loser had to do a punishment, right?
Morimoto: Yup, the loser has to do an impression. I always win whenever we play but Shintaro always challenges me.
Chinen: That’s also like Shin chan (laughs). I know, let’s make a goal together. Then, we’ll compete who can attain it first.
Morimoto: Sounds good
Chinen: You’ll feel more eager when it’s a competition. What should we do?
Morimoto: Hmm, something I could win? (laughs) But Chinen kun, you can do everything. Is there something out there I could win though?
Chinen: … this will be hard to clearly decided winner and loser but, since we are in middle of concert tour, want to fight on who can smile to the audience more?
Morimoto: Ha~ (deep sigh). …that’s so you! That’s a good one.
Chinen: We won’t know who wins or lose but the winner will be whoever thought they did the hardest.
Morimoto: I think that’s a really good plan but can you remind me once more before the concert starts? I have a feeling I’ll forget about the competition (laughs).
