Longer than I wanted it to be. But I was on a roll.

With his arms bound behind his back the Kaizoku-ou was led down main street in the entrance to the Grand Line, Loguetown. Crowds lined the street on either side, filled with people saying they had met the Pirate King, others whispering that he had killed a hundred men in one punch. Some said that he was actually the grandson of Gold Roger. And the Kaizoku-ou pressed on.

He was still allowed to wear his mugiwara that shielded his face from the sight of the people that came to see him. They all expected to see him with a stern visage, or at least a defiant one. Yet, underneath his hat, where no one could see, there was a smiling face.

One child pointed that fact out to his mother, saying, "Look momma! He's smiling!" Almost everyone seemed to hear the child, and the Kaizoku lifted his head so everyone could see he was smiling.

He knew he would not be saved from death this time. He didn't want to be saved. He had found One Piece, become the Kaizoku-ou, and that was what he had set out to do. He lost his nakama along the way, and this was how he decided he would pay for it.

"Monkey D. Luffy! You are sentenced to death for pirating in the Grand Line by the World Government. Do you have any last words?" the executioner said, his axe raised over his head. From below hundreds of people watched the pirate king, the boy who had found the great treasure, and had been captured by the Government. They knew of the great things he'd done. Mostly good, but nothing they could do would stop what would happen.

"Stay true to you're friends. They are what is most important! Don't forget your nakama for the rest of your life!" And with that the legend of the second kaizoku-ou was ended.

[[ Yeah, mugiwara = straw hat, nakama = good friends, and kaizoku = pirate, ou = king ]]
