Ichigo glances and the book he is reading falls out of his hands. There is a silent second before his expression flickers to life; he howls with laughter.
“Ow-ow-“
She scowls, “Spit it out already!”
“-like an owl!” he finally gasps, grinning at the dark circles she has drawn around her eyes.
Her irritation reaches a sudden climax and she snaps the pencil of eyeliner neatly in half.
“I mean, raccoon,” he corrects and then, wickedly, “Racoon Rukia.”
She huffs and retreats to the closet. Her passive, that is, non-violent reaction leaves Ichigo bewildered until the next morning when he screams at the sight of his face unnaturally red.
This time it is Rukia, holding a tube of scarlet lipstick, who says his name with unmistakable relish.
