I'm leaving town for almost 2 months starting tomorrow evening. And, um, I began packing this morning. Frak. Me. It's going to be awesome, I know that. But I'm dragging my feet because while I love traveling, the thought of being gone so long makes me nervous. I did it last summer in Sweden, but only for a month.
I'm going to Savonlinna, in Finland, for a govt. sponsored language training program. I think they figured out that nobody was going to study Finnish (a language with zero articles, 13 cases, and enough consonant gradation to choke a donkey) without being subsidized. So that's nice. Then, I'm going to a Culture and Climate Change seminar through the UW. In Greenland. For three weeks. In Greenland. I have been assured that there is, in fact, wireless there. But still...GREENLAND. Why the hell did I think that was a good idea?
Also, to Mac or not to Mac: I'm seriously considering buying an iBook this afternoon or tomorrow morning. As a student, I get a nice discount plus a free iPod and printer. I have an HP laptop right now, but the screen has crapped out on me before and Vista kind of makes me want to tear my hair out. I have a 5 year old iBook, as well. Should I take the HP? The old iBook which has never failed me? Buy a new iBook with money that I will earn in September? PLEASE TO ADVISE ME NOW.
