Fredericton, NB - Theatre New Brunswick is pleased to announce Caleb Marshall as the company’s next Artistic Producer, succeeding Leigh Rivenbark, who will resign in June 2009. After a six-month nationwide search, Theatre New Brunswick’s board of governors extended the offer to the New Brunswick native for his passion, commitment, and experience, and for encompassing the enduring spirit of Theatre New Brunswick.

“Caleb’s experience both locally and abroad is immensely valuable, yet his roots go very deep in our province,” said Ilkay Silk, Board Chairperson. “It is most gratifying to know that Theatre New Brunswick has come into its own. Combined with his passion for Theatre New Brunswick , the board feels the company is in very good hands. We look forward to working with him as he ushers Theatre New Brunswick to the next stage.”

Marshall returned to Fredericton from the UK , where he was an Education Practitioner and Resident Director at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. While based in the UK , he regularly returned to Canada , coming home to Fredericton in both 2007 and 2008 to write and direct Christmas@ThePlayhouse. “I have always committed to sharing our stories abroad and returning to New Brunswick to create and develop new work, and new artists here,” said Marshall . “I am thrilled to join Theatre New Brunswick as Artistic Producer to build on this endeavour. My hope is to grow Theatre New Brunswick as a force for creative engagement on the foundation established under Leigh Rivenbark’s leadership. Theatre New Brunswick will foster education, new writing, and community involvement, while continuing to present high calibre productions.”

Marshall holds a Masters of Fine Arts with Distinction in Theatre Directing from Middlesex University , London , England , and an International Artist’s Fellowship from Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
