Okay I'm resurrecting this LJ for November for my novel writing, since many of my peers are also on LJ ;)
I'm not going to bother with a filter, so if you don't want to be arsed with the updates I post and snips from my novel, then just go ahead and defriend me.
Now that that is out of the way, I'm starting day 2 of Nan with almost 3k words.
The Novel is as yet untitled. It's "an" historical romance set in 1658, Scotland.
Delaney Pierce is a 20 year old widow dragged from her London home into Scotland to take over the Mulcahy keep held by the Lord Protector (Oliver Cromwell). It's in need of efficient running since the laird was killed and Delaney's father, a low ranking baron, was charged with this duty.
On the way, they're attacked by a rival clan. It's a massacre in the Highlands. Delaney is chased through the woods, trapped in a tree, and chopped down.
Enter Teigan Mulcahy. Tall, dark and savage. His father, the Mulcahy keep's laird, was murdered by Cromwell's soldiers for refusing to pay taxes to the crown. He vowed as a boy years ago to get his keep back and has been chipping away at the contingent of men in his former household for five years. He found out about the English coming to live at his castle, and planned to kill them once he was sure they were bequeathed the Mulcahy land, but found the MacLeoghs already assaulted them.
He captures the lone surviving member of the party, a wisp of a lass, and when he finds out that her father indeed had been deeded Teigan's land, the Scotsman immediately weds Delaney to get access to his castle. He knows that once he is in there, his clan can oust the other English and defend themselves better than in the Highlands.
In the meantime, he's finding a far more pressing attack from his new wife to be distracting. He didn't think the English had personality or interesting aspects, much less a fiery lass so enticing and promising.
Good shit.
