Sushi vs. "Asian Cuisine"
Time to vent...
(I KNEW there was a reason I needed to start posting journals again!!)
So here at work we are having a huge holiday party and about 100 people will be involved. I of course got stuck being in charge of the whole damn thing. Ughh... but that's a completely different vent. Let me stay focused here. We are doing a gift basket raffle where each department donates 1 or 2 gift baskets and then everyone buys raffle tickets for the basket they like best. The money collected will then go to a needy family chosen by our Alameda County Social Services department. (cool huh?)
Wellllll... yesterday we had a staff meeting with just our department and we chose 2 gift basket themes to go with. I chose to be on the "Asian Foods" gift basket and suggested maybe focusing it more specifically on SUSHI and calling it a "Sushi Party". Along with my theme suggestion I emailed out like 20+ ideas for things to go into the basket. It was going to be the most awesome gift basket EVER. But alas... my boss left for the day yesterday without even commenting on the email. Then today he went shopping for stuff and straight up said he wanted it to be an "Asian Cuisine" theme. Whatever. I think it's silly to mix Japanese with Chinese cuisine. Makes you seem like you don't know shit about what you are doing. But cool. Hopefully someone who doesn't know shit about what they are doing will buy tickets for our crazy basket. :)
