Easter dinner last night went MUCH better than I expected! The food all turned out mostly decent if not GOOD, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and even Sierra was pretty well behaved around our guests (Matt's step-mom sent me an e-mail this morning and made a point of telling us how good Sierra was! WOO!) I'm glad my parents get along with Matt's dad's family, as it makes gatherings easier to organize. There's WAY too many leftovers for just the two of us to eat on our own. No one brought food home with them, and my fridge is FULL.
Matt's grandparents saw our house for the first time, and brought us a TON of hand-me-down stuff, including an antique framed mirror that looks amazing in our upstairs bathroom! Matt's dad and Vic brought a wing chair as well as a practically new patio set, and my parents brought us a futon and a few other things. Gotta love hand me downs! Everyone has said that they don't mind if we end up replacing anything with our own purchases as time goes on, but they figure we need to fill the house for now, and it helps us from spending *too* much money right away. So lovely of everyone!
We had brunch with Matt's grandparents this morning, which was also very nice. They're having an Easter dinner with the rest of the family tomorrow night, but we're going to stay home for this one. We'll see them again soon I'm sure.
Matt's mom was "pissy" (quotes because we aren't entirely sure if she was serious or kidding), that she was not invited to our Easter dinner. I'm sorry but we weren't about to invite her when it was Matt's dad, his dad's parents and my parents. That's what divorces do to a family, Laura. Get used to it. I hope she was kidding, because I have no idea why she would have wanted to be in their company anyways! It's okay, she's basically forced herself on us this afternoon and tonight, and has told us that she's going to stay "for a few days". Yippie. Matt works on Monday so he's told her she really can't stay Sunday night. We'll see what happens. Oh and she's making us miss Doctor Who by forcing her visit on us. We've been looking forward to this for a while, so it just adds icing to the cake. Gotta love his mom.
I hear crashing around upstairs and I think Matt's attempting to assemble the futon... I should go help.
