Cut to save the sensibilities of people who get bored by housekeeping posts. Involves "Just Another Irish Rose", the MOPethon fic, Hurricane Dennis, and the Perversity of Things in General.

Wise decisions on all counts, and I'll look forward to your Tuesday posting.

May your day improve at once....

I am currently struck dumb with admiration by people who can work on multiple fictions, some even in different fandoms. Trying to get back to the "Rose" voice after finishing the first half of the Xander piece was as hard as anything I've ever done.

I'm pretty sure that Chapter 47 is going to benefit for sitting for a day or so, also, since I'll be able to go back to it and revise without being distracted by thinking about what I need to write next on the MOPethon piece.

Julia, it was and is hard to let go of today's deadline, though. Was getting a lot of security out of meeting those

Me too - even though I'm married to one - although I think the transitions slow him down a bit too.

I had no idea it would be as hard for me as it's been; I'm used, over the years, of having several different nonfic things in various stages and moving easily between them, but I guess there's not as much difference in voice or something.

Julia, with luck, this means that going back to one of my major (and majorly stalled) nonfic pieces will be relatively easy

I've left another little trail of breadcrumb posts from chapter 42 to here.

Caught up, but with the certainty that I will fall behind again when RL and getting the Festival stuff together continue to fill my hours.

Well, as long as you can still enjoy things when you get to read them all in a lump, then I feel as if I'm doing my job.

All great comments, and I hope you don't feel I'm evil for not answering them. But the OTHERS are insisting on having the radio and TV on and talking and my verbal processing centers are overtaxed.

I want a cone of silence, too! Also, a night canopy. (Didn't Billy Pilgrim ask for that when he and Montana Wildhack were about to get cozy?) I want all the sci-fi accessories.

Re: ...the lights went out and stayed out for two hours, and then the modem had to be reset... I'm lucky mine doesn't do that when I lose power, but the PC becomes convinced it's 1912, and needs to be told otherwise.

Doesn't know the meaning of "anachronism", does it?

Julia, the cable modem does pretty well on power outages, but not when it was in active mode and gets hit by a teeny power surge.

*Pets Julia, and Julia's versatile but exhausted brain*

"Rose" is well worth waiting for. Julia, you get some rest, and Matthew, you and yours get through the coming storm safely.

Anne, in awe of anyone who can write good fiction, let alone switch back and forth between centuries and stories

I'm less and less sure about the "good" on the ficathon piece, but I forge ahead. I know where I want to get but I'm juggling some possible cliches (one of which involves using a character I know personally and am having to dial down several notches so he doesn't LOOK like a cliche!).

Something to look forward to on Tuesday!

Are you having storms?

Hot, dry and withering, here.

Nope- after a week of pouring rain, this morning it was still and calm under a bright blue sky when suddenly NO ELECTRICITY! just like that. I suspect the work of someone with an M-80 left over from the 4th.

Julia, suppose I should go do something useful now, darnit
