to baptize or not ...

Tonight is the night when we find out whether or not we can baptized our son. The problem lies in the fact that everyone we know does not qualify as a godparent. The two people we wholeheartedly trust in giving both kids an excellent religious upbringing do not attend church regularly and are not catholic. Two requirements. The reason why we chose those two people is because they both know the bible inside and out, question the idiosyncracies, and have a well-balanced view of the world; as well as know what zoroastronism was/is. Appraently the church doesn't like people like that, but oh well. It's very important, for some reason, that I get our son baptized. It's a deep-rooted feeling that goes beyond catholocism.
I would hate to have them say no and punish him for our "short-comings".
