you know, it's funny because I couldn't help but do the same thing in Taiwan... and while I loved my experience there, I couldn't help but miss California... even though i was having lots of yummy food, i missed my grndma's cooking... hahahah...
I think it is inevitable that one would compare wherever they are to where they grew up... esp. when you're homesick... for me, what got me through was knowing that I would not have this experience again (or at least not for awhile), so I wanted to take in my experiences and everything that was going on...it made everything bittersweet, a little sad because I was homesick for the things that brought me comfort, but very excited and happy for all the new things I was seeing... I think the comparison was a good thing because it made me see the privileges I have that I often overlook... even now, I look back on my experience in Taiwan and can say that I really enjoyed it and learned a lot, despite being homesick... I can also say, I'm glad to be home... HAHAHAH... as strange as that is...
so yeah, umm... this is the long-winded way of saying, i think it is normal to feel this way... and as long as you don't let the homesickness take over your experience and make you miserable, it's normal to compare your life now from your life two months ago :) so go on miss calculator, even if your mind keeps counting, just remember to enjoy it while you have it (as with everything in life)...
