my desk is right next to a starbucks. at any given time, i am only about three seconds away from possibly ordering a gingerbread latte. i am feeling both utterly fortunate as well as a lot poorer.
talking with gloria last night about all the good korean food that we were missing as well the general comforts that we take for granted in los angeles (i.e. our cars, no rent, and mostly the weather) it occurred to me that i am always entirely in a california state of mind. i really should thank the high speed scene for such a useful phrase. i feel that since i have got to london i have been comparing everything to how things are done in california. this is inevitable, i suppose, since i have lived in california for the entire span of my life thusfar. but, one would think that i will eventually give up trying to compare two completely different locales on two different parts of the freakin' globe. my mind is constantly calculating the differences, adding up the losses, picking out the advantages, dismissing the disadvantages. suddenly, my mind is some unstoppable calculator. and, yes, i am keeping score, it seems.
