Ever since I stopped doing gymnastics, I've had a rather difficult time getting into shape. So much in fact that I've grown quite fat. When I was a senior in high school my body fat % was holding pretty consistent around 4%. Now it's around 20% (I'm buying a caliper tomorrow to get an accurate reading.) Since that time I have also gained 26lbs. Granted, a lot of that was muscle, but yeah, I'm no where near where I was, nor where I want to be.

Last year I set a new years resolution to make it to the gym 150 times roughly. Basically 3 times per week for the entire year.

Here's my breakdown

November and December I probably went a grand total of 10 additional times. I started off pretty well, but May I went to Vegas and that cost me some time. June I went to North Carolina. And both of those months I was gone every weekend. I did several backpacking trips, kayaking trips, and joined a kickball league during that time that I didn't count in. Then at the end of June I got laid off. Was unemployed for a while, and eventually found a new job in NJ, where I had to relocate to, ever since then, I've been doing next to nothing.

And back on track.... 2 weeks ago a good friend of mine told me about the P90X workout. It's an intensive 90 day workout program (roughly a 1 hour workout, 7 days per week, for 13 weeks). There are 12 different workouts, constantly mixing up the order of which one is done when. I was rather busy traveling all over the place recently, but the start of this week I finally decided to start this program. I spent about 1000$ on new bowflex 1090 selecttech weights, pull up bar, weight lifting gloves, suppliments, workout mat, and a heart rate monitor. I have nothing to workout at my house, and the weights and heart monitor were the bulk of that investment.
Wednesday I spent reading about 100 pages of literature about how to go about the program, printing out all the tracking guides, and setting up a workout area in my house I can guarantee myself access to everyday for 90 days.
Thursday I took all my before and after photos. 8 different poses. Got my resting heart rate. Calculated my body fat %, and a wide variety of measurements so I can track my progress. I then completed a 40 minute "Where you're at" fit test. Push-ups, pull-ups, bicep curls, vertical leap, flexibility measurements. Stuff like that.
Today I finally started the actual program. Completed 2 scheduled workouts, which made my cry by the time I was finished. 3 times per week during the first section you do a normal hour long workout, and then a 20 minute intensive ab workout as well. Today was one of those days.
1 day down. 89 to go.
