First and foremost, after looking back over my previous entries, Vegas was legendary. The only goal that didn't happen was the flask. Apparently Vegas isn't flask friendly. Oh well.
More recently, on June 30th I was laid off from work. Just without any warning or anything, company decides it's folding and they cut 12 people. This is now the sixth company I've worked for that has gone out of business.
Waterfront Restuarnt - Newbury

Cunningham Field Services - Concord
Little Chinese Restaurant - Newbury
Ivory Spirits and Bistro - Keene
Anthill Technologies - Woburn, Ma
If the Olive Garden or my current job goes under, I'm totally getting a job at Wal-Mart. I'll bring them down one way or another.
So, after being laid off, I did what everyone else does. I filed for unemployment and started looking for work. I focused most of my efforts in the Boston area. I even interviewed with Jobspring Partners, and Workbridge Associates, two headhunting companies for software developers. On top of that, I reactivated my accounts on Monster.com and Careerbuilder and started applying for jobs. By Monday, July 6th I had applied for 2 jobs in CT, 2 jobs in NJ, and 20 jobs in the Boston area. On Thursday July 9th I called a company in NJ to talk about my application. I was then given the number of a gentleman who was in charge of the software developers. After talking to him, I told him I'd be in the Jersey area that weekend (I went to an Alliance event in Ohio, which is close enough). He told me he'd set up and interview that Monday. So, after the event, I hung around in Jersey and went to the interview. I got 3 phone calls and 3 e-mails by 5pm that Monday from the company, and at 10am Tuesday morning, I got a job offer. The money is slightly less than what I wanted, but the benefits are amazing, so I have accepted. I have to be in Jersey on Monday 7/20 for the paperwork, orientation, and application for Federal Security Clearance, and I officially start my new career in Jersey on 7/27.
And just like that, my time in New England is at its end. It all kind of happened fast, and I'm still in shock about it. I'm not sure how I feel about it all.
