Snarge happens

We need bumper stickers that say that. Another quote from the other hippo hacker: “We are boldly thinking where no one has thunk before. And we didn’t even have to split an infinitive to do it.”

Also, last week when reaching into my bag full of bathroom supplies, I managed to catch my fingernail on my razor. So now I’ve got a large white check-mark in the center of the nail where it was cut into, and actually started bleeding out of. In another couple weeks it will be out to the fingertip where it will be presenting structural issues for trimming/breakage, which will be interesting.

V got A and me sick last week. He went through it during the week, and was better by the time we got together again Saturday (with more fun to be had, and better results than last time). I started feeling it Thursday night, but it didn’t really set in until Sunday morning. So I’ve been popping drugs since then and kinda coasting through Christmas activites.

Christmas presents of note:
Set of four UV-reactive acrylic balls for contact juggling
Chain mail toss-juggling balls
Boxed set of Marx brothers movies
Pulp Fiction, which I haven’t seen since the theatres, in some super-jumbo-deluxe special edition
And while not strictly a present, homemade pirohis (or pierogies, depending on which nationality they happen to be) were definitely a bonus.

The plan was to be back in the lab at about noon today, the 26th. I got here about 12:30, and called my cohort, only to find out that she was still 100 miles away, and intermittently stuck in traffic. So since the building is locked and I don’t have the authority to get the key, I sit in the car until she shows up, just after 3. Which may be just as well - we only ended up getting about three hours in on the hippo itself, and still I had to break every half hour to go drain my sinuses. Speaking of which….

And my computer is getting twitchy again. It seems that whenever the battery power is below 90% (even if it’s plugged in and charging), the bottom 2-2.5 inches of the screen locks up in a series of vertical stripes, and an equal area above it gets erratic. Like, twitching all over the place. Either showing what’s actually on that part of the screen with a defective vertical-hold, or flipping around and showing some other, higher section of the screen in repeat. It’s always the entire horizontal width of that section of the screen at a time, it’s always divided in the same place, and the top part is always fine. It also pulses in severity whenever the screen panel moves, either intentionally or just wiggling.
