It's been a long time since I've updated this, almost a month. But that month has been so hectic and it flew by so quickly. I can't believe it's already half-way through October. And since I haven't updated in a month, a lot has happened, but I'll touch on the bigger things that happened. As is my custom, I'll start off with work.
Recently, I've been feeling really burnt out from work. It seems like I've been working at full-speed. Probably cause we've had so many "tours" (Corprate visits) in a few week's time. We've been cleaning like the President was visiting. It seemed every department had every employee working on the day before the tour. I had to clean behind the rotissery oven (while it was on), behind the fryers, and on top of our Combi oven. I was tucked under shelves even. They even wanted me to clean the underside of the tables, but I put my foot down on that one. Not to mention, most of the nights there was only two other people working with me, but fortunatally we didn't have that many customers. Thankfully, my manager is giving me a couple of short days, so I won't miss out on too much hours. And it helps with the schedule, since we have a few people that can only work after certain times.
But I'm also getting frustrated with our new store director. I recently overheard him laying down a new rule about not allowing the grocery guys to have water in the back room. That back room gets so hot in the summer, easily matching what temperature it is outside, maybe even hotter. They bust their asses back there, often taking down and stocking over 1,000 boxes of stuff. I don't find that fair. I can see not allowing pop or juice back there, but water? It's not just their department, but I have to go to the back room to bring down cardboard, and I bust a sweat just walking back there from the heat, so I sympothize for them more than any department. I was talking to one of them and suggested that they keep having water back there, and if they wanna try suspending or firing them for it, they should call the Union or OSHA and filing a complaint. I think it might be a health risk.
The Insane Clown Posse concert was earlier this month. It wasn't what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it. I'm not talking about the performance itself, I wish I could have an opinion about it, but seeing as I was too sick to see ICP hit the stage, I missed their whole set. You see, I had a terrible stomach flu starting that day (I had to call into work the day after cause I was so sick), and that didn't mix well with the heat from the venue, the lack of food, and the alcohol (which was worse from the lack of food as well). But the rest of the day I enjoyed emensely. Matt (Fatboy), Jeff, Jim and I met up at Jeff/Jim's house, then we went out to Mall Of America to get Fatboy's ticket (he didn't have any money, so I picked him up one). We searched far and wide there to find the Ticketmaster, but along the way we saw a huge metrosexual, and almost got into a fight with him. After that, we finally get the ticket and head to Hot Topic to check it out. It was weird cause me and Jeff were saying the day before how cool it would be to run into ICP or Boondox somewhere in the mall (Jeff and his cousin ran into Shaggy 2 Dope last time they were here). Turns out that Boondox was in Hot Topic the day before. Then we decided to get some beers and some nachos, so we headed to Hooter's in the mall. We had a couple beers, then goofed around the mall. It was nearing time to head out to First Ave, so we left. We got there and decided that since the line was long as hell, we'd head over to the other Hooter's. I think we got overcharged on our drinks there, but it was all good in the end. Plus our waitress was hot, and she liked ICP. We headed back into the line, where Fatboy decided to headbutt the door and Jeff pushed his nipple on the glass. Which proceeded them into getting kicked out. I felt so bad for them, but I wanted to hit up the merchandise stand and hopefully pick up the Riddlebox jersey and Violent J shirt (they didn't have the jersey, which sucks). But Drainage X was the opening band, so I went out and sought out Jeff and Fatboy. I was able to find them, wearing make-up, but they still couldn't get in. So I gave Jeff his Violent J shirt and Fatboy mine, but still no entry. I went back in to get another drink (Long Island Iced Teas will be the death of me that night) and see some of Wolfpac's set, then went back out and found them talking to Rude Boy (friend of ICP and MC for the tour). And guess what, he was able to get Jeff and Fatboy in backstage! Fuckers! So I went back in to hopefully find them, and Boondox was taking the stage. It was awesome, I got a video of it on my phone. But I started to get really sick and I threw up outside. I had to call my parents to pick me up, but I felt so bad that I had to leave cause I was supposed to pay for the parking. I clung to the bucket that my parents brought the whole way home, then immediatly went to sleep once we got to my house. I was upset that I didn't get to see ICP perform, but I figure they'll be back for The Tempest tour, and I won't miss them that time. And at least Jeff and Fatboy got in, eventually, especially since I bought both their tickets. Not to mention, Violent J had pneumonia and aparantly he wasn't onstage that much (they canceled the following tour date).
I also hit up the bar a few times this past month with Jeff, celebrating his 21st and before he heads to jail. He had to turn himself in the Wednesday after the concert. I got a letter from him today, and I'm planning on writing him back tonight. He might be able to get out on house arrest apparently. If not, he'll be in for 4 weeks. Not too bad, but it sucks that he had to go in shortly after his birthday. Once he gets out, he should be starting work at Ruby Tuesday's, so we could go there and drink for cheap.
Well, I guess nothing else really big happened this past month. Other than the bars and the ICP concert, I've been working and playing Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. It's pretty good, although I wish the Konquest mode was a little longer. But at least they have a Kreate a Kombatant. It's pretty sweet, actually.
But I'm gonna grab something to eat and relax, so I'll check y'all on the flipp side!
