About my study buddy from UChicago, I have good news and bad news. The good news: it sounds like he's quitting the Adderall. Last I heard from him, he was crashing big time but was sticking with it. He apparently started taking them about 3 weeks ago, not realizing that they were addictive as hell, and then found out just in time.
As for the bad news, I'll reenact our phone conversation from earlier this morning:
Me: Hey, it's me, Chris.
Friend: Hey
Me: I just got up, and it looks like I'll be pulling an all-nighter, but after I grab lunch do you want to meet over in the library and study a while?
Friend: I can't...I'm at home...
Me: At ho--...oh.
So yeah, I'm now study-partner-less as well. Just my freakin' luck. There is a sizeable Dartmouth contingent I might start studying with, even though I don't particularly care for many of them. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
In other news, I am desperately awaiting going home to Arizona. I don't know how the hell I'm going to be able to stand four more weeks of this fucking miserable weather. Falling asleep at night is a gargantuan effort (even with my fan on full blast), and the only time during the day I feel somewhat comfortable is when I'm in the air-conditioned science center or dining hall, and those are a 15-minute walk from my dorm. I haven't (yet) lost my drive to do well in this class, but I'm losing my drive about pretty much everything else around here. Fuck. Summer.
orgo,
