The march of doom continues...

I'm halfway through orgo. Goddamn, it's going by fast. Labs are going better than expected so far, exams not as good as I'd like but I'm working on that...

I'm looking more and more forward to going home in a month, despite the MCATs and the heat. Even if I have to spend most days just hanging around indoors avoiding the heat, and even if I'll probably only get to leave town twice while I'm there (one time with my homeboy Josh), it'll be a very welcome break--albeit a brief one--from academia. And given the way our economy and the price of gas are headed, visits home will probably become less and less frequent in the future. At some point, I may not even be able to afford travelling across country, but I suppose when that day comes I'll just bust out my emergency 180 Euros, which'll probably be worth a grand by then.

This just in: the pot calling the kettle black African-American. Yes, Bush has become pretty much a complete failure. According to the head of a legislative branch with the lowest approval rating in its history. I don't think it's a matter of Democrat or Republican anymore when it comes to most of our government; it's just a matter of powerful, self-serving scumbags. I honestly think the best thing our country could do right now is kick out ever single member of Congress, assemble 535 educated individuals with absolutely no desire to serve in government, and say "here's your new job--have fun". We'd lose a few good congresspeople, but on the whole it'd be a marked improvement. Would I want to be one of those people? HELL no. If there's one thing being treasurer has taught me, it's that I not only hate politics, but would probably do a pretty terrible job of things too.

And though I was once a quasi-ardent Obama quasi-supporter, I find myself now not being enthused with either candidate. Obama's apparent desire to flip-flop on civil liberties (FISA anyone?) and his being pro-choice are two strikes against him in my book (and yes, you may think those are contradictory, but from my point of view they're not). As for the candidate from my new home state? He'd probably make a pretty cool grandfather. But I cannot for the life of me fathom somebody sitting down, seeing McCain's attributes, and saying "you know what? He'd make a GREAT president!". He's a guy living in the past, and while I don't think he's anywhere near as evil as Bush and Co., but at the same time I see absolutely no reason that he'd make a good president in any way. I think a liberal poster on an online forum summed it up best (and I paraphrase): "he's not a bad guy, but it would be for the best if he went back to his ranch, spent time with his family, and lived out his hard-earned retirement years".

I could say something about Ron Paul, but at this point it doesn't really matter...

Peace out, kidz
