Let's see, this past weekend was interesting. It was our Kingdom Crown Tourney (Middle Kingdom) and I participated in the Craftspersons' Faire (coordinated by my protegee Sister, Fiadnata). I think it was a success. I'm not sure because I ended up getting a bit, um, I guess "overwrought" at one point. I was feeling a bit stressed out when I was trying to get things set up on our table. It comes down to I felt rushed and crowded. I'm a bit claustrophobic and while I know everyone was meaning well, at one point it got to me a bit. So, I stepped back, took a couple of deep breaths and "focused" on what I had to do. That helped me get through it.

"Our" table was for the "Dernehealde Contingent" showing some of the diversity of artists that are active in our shire. Other than, Rowen (who's actually from Flaming Gryphon), Eidiard and myself, the others were all relatively new to the SCA. So, Eidiard had a block of feta cheese that he made, plus his 'brag book' showing a lot of his other stuff that wasn't there because he does a lot of stuff for other people (vigil books, knives, swords, etc.), Isobel (first time entering anything A&S related) had two of her bound books that she had done (one was a rescue bind), Molly had a hand-forged knife with sheath that she made, Rowen had her musical instruments, and I had out a bunch of different fibers that I had spun (mohair, wool, llama, alpaca, silk) with either a drop spindle, supported spindle or my wheel. I also had out a few copies of an article I published in our local newsletter giving an overview/introduction to my Pictish textiles research.

I had fun talking to a few people either about spinning, where I managed to find some British Soay wool, and Pictish studies in general. I also finally got to meet Baron Rocco, our Kingdom WebMinister and got a few issues cleared up with him. He's really a nice guy and it looks like I may end up helping him out with some of the administrative duties for his office. He put out a request for help on the Legio website, and I offered. When I never heard back from him via e-mail, I just guessed that he either no longer needed any assistance, or that he had found someone else. Turns out, his outbound e-mail messages were never getting past his e-mail host.

I don't know if the Laurel who I gave a skein of my yarn to (it was so cute, she kept petting it *grin*) is on here, but I hope to see what you manage to make with it. And I apologize that I don't recall your name. :(

a&s, rambling, spinning, wool, picts
