Elsa's cold unfortunately leaped on me and I've been wrestling with it all week. I've been posting bits and pieces in different comms but forgot about my own blog.
Let's see... Wednesday we threw poor Elsa into the back of the car and took off for the Cotswolds. First, we stopped off at Bleinheim Palace in Woodstock (childhood home of Winston Churchill and seat of the Spencer Churchills and relatives of Spencers of Princess Diana fame). It's a HUGE estate and we managed to tour some of the ground before Elsa fell by the wayside. I would have preferred an inside tour but it was impossible to see everything. It's literally an all day visit.
Intrepid Steph did an awesome job motoring through the beautiful countryside; she took to the roundabouts (evil things) like a native. We saw picturesque honey-stoned villages such as Stone-in-the Wold and Broadway. I was charmed by a Thomas Kincaid Gallery in Broadway while Steph humored me. I noticed the focus on my camera was getting wonky which figures greatly into my musings later.
Later Elsa felt even worse. We put her to bed back at the B&B and sallied forth for dinner, ending up at a trendy Italian restaurant. My lasagna was good as meat sauces went but it was strangely prepared with some sparse spinach noodles hidden in the sauce. Steph was sad she had to go home the next day which required more comfort food, and that at least three times we'd not gotten even close to the Elusive One, and that required eating some chocolate volcano cake. Mmmm.
We brought Elsa soup and water. Back in Steph's room, we strategized how to pack her mega shopping spree into three bags and getting autographs.
