Weekend update

With your host, Sorey McFuckingexhausted.

So Kim and I saw Golden Compass and I have to say - there might be something to all that anti-religious worry. After seeing this film, it has pretty well convinced me there is no just and loving God in heaven for such a thing to exist. The only good part was Nicole Kidman doing a fantastic job at being the perfectly nice and calm sort of psychotic that can be really hard to get across. I would guess that it may have been easy for her to do it simply because she was surrounded by what she had to have known was the worst movie production of this whole  year. Channeling her resulting rage and frustration made the character complete.

Kim took off for Portland on Saturday morning with Nicole, one of the girls from the office. Sunday, Joe and Matt followed suit, all attending a HUD conference I'll eventually have to get to myself for some certification hoohah. With the two company officers and the office manager gone, I get to host a strenuous external audit over a period of two days as well as deliver a seminar to 200+ high school kids later this week.

It'd seem like less of a big deal if I didn't feel like I had been run over by a marching band. I've been too busy/distracted to hit the gym for the past couple weeks, so on Saturday I went back after I felt that I had finally kicked a cold that had been dogging me all week. That was a pretty awesome mistake - I had forgotten what it felt like to be winded violently. Sunday I went back and did a full workout after forgetting to eat the whole day, so I then busted out some pasta that had been in the fridge... for too long, apparently. Nothing like a little food poisoning to cap off overworking your cardio and muscle systems, huh? HUH!?

So I got about 2 hours of sleep last night, but still managed to pull my shit together well enough to get to my eye appt this morning and roll into work to do... work. Got a pretty decent amount of shit done before realizing that the auditions that the Real Normal guys sent over were all formatted for QuickTime - which I don't have on my machine at work. Since I can't install anything there, I had to then come home just to finish with that.

At this point, having only eaten (and kept down) a sandwhich in the past 48 hours, I remembered that our microwave is busted and everything in the fucking house needs to thaw or be microwaved before eating. So pizza it was.

And then a raid. All the while today, a cold, thick mist has gathered up around W/SW Austin and now there's pretty much no visibility in my area. I can barely see the other apartment buildings.

This is going to be a pretty bizarre fucking week.

work, self, movies
