Been a little bit since I made my extremely important mark on the internet. Things at the office are winding down all over - my little corner included. Since what I do largely involves contacting people and setting up speaking engagements, it's been predictably hard to get people to return my calls/emails/letters at this time of year. Schools are busy with their myriad winter activities, and churches are gearing up for some manner of yearly event that I hear about from time to time. Mostly I've been getting away with trying to find busywork for myself but I think even my impressive creative talent is about to get shot down by the swelling amount of free time that is coming. I'd volunteer to help in other parts of the office, but the general lack-of-shit-to-do is settling in on everyone.
I was sick last Thursday, and I mean "sick" in the way that a blind man insists that it's "difficult to see". Apparently one of Jon's stepkids came home with some Captain Tripps strain of flu and naturally I was the first to be smote. I woke up Thursday morning feeling run down and a bit queasy, and in about an hour and a half's time I found myself both unable to move and unable to lay unmoving on the floor in some comfortable position. Quite the riddle, I thought, so I figured the best way to solve it was to expel from my body every bit of matter not firmly tethered to one of my bones. So in love with this solution was I, that I was not extremely picky about which direction it left, either - ears, eyes, mouth, nose, pores... hell, I think my elbow grew an asshole and got in on the action, too.
As might be illustrated, this pretty well ruined my weekend, which Kim and I had reserved for Christmas shopping. We managed to get a little done, but I tell you the fuck what - I think I'm just going to put a bottle of loaded gun next to the Pepto for next time that shit rolls around. I'm finally feeling like myself again just today, which is good because I'd like to have an actual weekend, kthnx.
We got our tickets purchased for the Christmas / New Year's extended week, and unfortunately going to Chicago was going to take about another $650 out of our pockets, so we had to pass. I'm not sure of the full roster of people who'll be at the Chicago, but I know Shawn and Mike were really looking forward to seeing us. I haven't seen either of them in way the fuck too long, and we definitely wanted to shoot the shit for a day or two with them.
Anyway, more later. Scrubs is on and my addled mind has scurried off.
