So, just got back from Josh's bachelor party, which as I mentioned, was a two night camping trip at his folks' property out by Saltsburg. The last time I was out there was this time last year when we did a night or two of some camping. We got rained on pretty good that time and, from the looks of it, we were gonna get it again this year. Friday evening I drove out to SVC in the rain and had dinner with Alli and some others at the caf. It rained and rained and rained all evening. I was waiting around for Ryan to arrive so I could drive us to the campsite, so while waiting we went to Craig's room to hang out and watch The Office, which was hilarious. Ryan finally got there around 930 or so, but he wanted to drive so we hopped in his car and went out to camp, where we met up with Josh and his pop, Soltesz, Jim, James and Paul. At this point the rain had mostly stopped, it was just super wet and misty out. Wasn't too bad though, they had a fire going by that time so we sat around and had some brewskis. Josh's dad was nice enough to buy us a bunch of beer (i think there were at least 4 cases, all different) and food (brats, sausages, eggs, potatoes, chips, snacks and more). We had no shortage of food to munch on, it was awesome.
But anyways, we sat around and BSed and such until at least 3 am or so. Everyone started getting ready for bed, but Ryan and I were hungry so we fired up the stove and cooked some ramen lol. It was pretty good. We got pretty tired, though, so we went to bed. Since it was so wet out, Josh had cleared out his shed and Ryan and I filled up his air mattress and crashed in there. The others slept outside or in the car or trailer. The mattress was a trip, it was pretty big but it would slowly lose its air overnight. By the time morning would roll around, Ryan and I would find ourselves side by side in the dead zone in the center of the mattress lol. I compared it to sleeping in a taco. It wasn't bad though, it wasn't any worse than "sleeping on a towel rack" (see New Years 2007).
Ryan and I slept in the next morning; we didn't get up till like 1030 or 11. I was soooo comfortable from about 7 am or so until I got up that I just didn't wanna move. We did get up though to find the skies clear and the weather warm and beautiful. We got some stuff together and took a small hike through some of the hills to scout things out. We had an encore performance of "Soltesz crossing a stream", made popular during the Wyoming trip. Actually, we had three of them lol.
We didn't hike very long; we came back and fired up some brats and played "Cornhole" (though I prefer to call it "bean bag toss") since Eric, Josh's work friend, brought the set up. We played this a lot, and I started to get pretty good at it. We would rotate off through teams and go through games, the running joke that if anyone got shut out, they'd have to do a bare-assed lap around the camp. I think some of the best games were those where Josh and I were on the same side, playing against each other. We were matching each other throw for throw, and even though both of us would have 5-6 point rounds, neither team would get anything more than a point or two since we'd cancel each other's scores out. It got pretty tight at times (not a good way to describe a game of this title). Eventually Josh and I ended up on a team (we kicked butt). Soon, Ryan and I played Soltesz and Jim and, you guessed it, we shut them out. It was a great round for both me and Ryan and we shut em out. We forgave them of the naked lap though lol.
That night we built three huge fires to try to burn off the extra wood from the timbering Josh's dad was doing. Jim and I worked on the middle one which reached small bonfire status in my book. It was too hot to stand near though, but it was fun to look at haha. We sat around again, had some more hot dogs/brats and some brewskis. Josh busted out some cigars and we all had one of those. It was just a great time, tellin' some old stories and such. Just lots of fun.
This morning we woke up a bit earlier and cleaned up camp. We were back on campus around 11 am or so. Dan and Jim went to mass at 1130, but Ryan, Josh and I went to the CML and talked to Katie Wo for awhile. Once Dan and Jim got back we all went out to get some lunch. We tried the Hotel Loyal first, but they were closed, so then we went to Red's. I've had their food once and it was pretty good. I think i got the same thing (steak and cheese) as I had last time. We ate lunch on the picnic table out front and just BS'ed some more. After that though, Josh, Dan and Jim took off. Ryan and I went back to campus to hang out for a little bit. We watched part of the Pens game at 5 (they lost) and then went to mass at 7. After mass I drove home.
Overall, it was an incredible weekend. It was soooo nice to spend some time with such a great group of guys. It really put into perspective how awesome my group of friends is. They're just a great group of guys n girls. Love you guys.
The wedding is going to be awesome, by the way. I can't wait.
