A funny thing happened...
A funny thing happened on the way home from Karate tonight. I was stopped at a light along with another truck. Said truck decided that it was taking a long time for the light to switch and decided they wanted to reposition themselves. As such, they duly placed their truck in reverse, their lights did go on, and started to back up.
Now being the normally observant person I am, I decided to try and get the persons attention by laying onto my horn with everything I could. It didn't help.
The truck continued in reverse and when it ran out of road continued in reverse right up the hood of my car. In all respects it was a pretty damn cool thing to watch. It reminded me of when a monster truck jumps over a line of cars and crashes on top of them. However, much like those unfortunate cars, my poor Saturn did not come out unscathed. The entire passenger side of the hood is buckled and will need to get replaced, also it looks like the side panels on that side have some cosmetic damage as well. Nothing seems wrong with the driver side, but I'll let the insurance adjusters decide that.
And yes, fortunately the kid, couldn't have been more than 18, did have insurance and they will be notified via mine. The second funny thing was that the kid was scared shitless and kept apologizing for everything. I wasn't hurt and the damage only looked superficial so I was completely cool. After getting the contact info I just sent them on their way and went home.
