Recently Computerworld has done two interviews with "Microsoft's Linux strategist" (
Last Thursday,
Monday). Outside of spouting various FUD related quotes and saying SuSE is better than Red Hat there was nothing relevant to the interviews.
It makes me wonder, why is Microsoft still so paranoid about Linux that they felt the need to create a dedicated position to spout the corporate FUD on the subject. Linux is still a minimal threat to Microsoft in the short term. It will still be several years before Linux is ready to use as the primary OS in a corporate desktop environment. Even then the OS will still better suited for servers, and Microsoft still has the majority market share in that area.
You would think a more important subject would be how more people are starting to move away from IE to alternative web browsers. But when your browser is part of the underlying OS I guess it just doesn't matter.
