i am not even sure i remember how to write a story.

my blood pressure is up. so, i've been trying to get back to the gym. then strangely, yesterday, at the grocery store i picked up a magazine. "scientific american mind" - in there it there is an article about how keeping a journal can be better for your long term mental health. how 'emotional ' writing can even bring down your blood pressure.

no shit? and here i thought my blood pressure was related to lack of physical activity and here it might be related to my lack of writing activity.

go figure.

so, i tried writing tonight. the results were horrible. as i started off - i am not even sure i remember how to write a story.

being honest hasn't been much of a help lately.

so, now, here i am. stuck. unable, or more so, unwilling, to write about the present as it is and incapable of writing the present or future in a way both entertaining and cathartic. for me at least.

i tried listening to music. but that didn't really help me. i never really listen to music while writing. i find it distracting.

i finished reading harry potter. decent book. i thought she really put herself in a corner with this idea that each book had to be a year in the life. she left out so much by trying to put in so much. oh well. maybe in the future other books will come out. maybe not. i'm not sure how such things work. but wouldn't it be interesting to know more about tom riddle? or the time in between the death and 19 years later? malfoy?

the idea of the deathly hallows i thought was good. which would you take? i don't think the wand should lose its freaking "power" just because the owner does not come to a violent death. surely over the centuries that must have happened before? stupid to put that in there. and what truly is the point of the rock? to see ghosts? certainly there would be some appeal for that but wouldn't talking to a painting of the person be just effective? maybe if there was no painting of them...i suppose. and the cloak. nice cloak. obviously useful but i think it should have been bigger or been able to grow to your particular need. that would have been really useful.

i'm not really sure what "power" the wand ever gave anyone. the two people that had it in duels lost - riddle and that grimwalt dude or whatever his name was.

and snape? i had higher hopes for him really. he did little there at the end. the book seemed to be in a rush though. hagrid was barely mentioned. dobby? came and went in a chapter. amazing. and kreacher? just when you thought that was going someplace, kreacher was just dropped. and the goblin with the sword? where did he go? why go in to this detail about human - goblin relations and then just drop it all?

and seriously, riddle thought he was the only one to find that room? didn't he notice all the other shit in there? what the fuck, over?

i think she was in a rush. i think she just wants it over with. and well, now it is.

dumbledore...she couldn't quite make him as dark as i think she tried to. and snape...well, i expected more out of that character. i really liked snape. a stupid snake bit him and that was it? and exactly how does that constitute riddle defeating snape? wouldn't that mean the freaking snake defeated snape? and what is the deal with goblins and wands? have they never used one? can they cast the same spells as wizards? this isn't well explained.

alright anyway - i'm done with that.

in other news - more work related - SaaS stuff. i'm really too tired to go into it here and now but i am a believer. not that it matters. it is real, it is here, and it is growing. everything you do now on your computer you will be able to do from a browser.

what does this mean? why do you need MS Office? why do you need a MS Exchange server in your company? why do you need a MS Exchange admin? why do you need AD? why do you need Siebel at your company? and the list can go on and on. and eventually the question is why do you need a DataCenter?

the cost are enormous really. the power, the real estate, the people. right now you can get 5 GB of FREE mail space from google. they can also provide you with Office like applications available on the web. you can get your companies name on your email but have the "service" provided to you by google. this is amazing stuff. it is cheaper than doing it yourself.

SalesForce.com - why run Siebel when you can have that?

IT is changing and it is changing fast. it is truly amazing stuff.

so, here is something that i recently found out at my company. my boss and i were discussing SaaS - he is not as...hyped as i am. he says - oh, well, it will probably happen but it will take time and email is vital to this company so they won't do something like that even if it is cheaper or easier or both. i said, oh, yeah, maybe you're right.

then, just on monday. i discovered that my 'leave and earnings' statement - what we call PayAdvice - what you might call your online pay stub - has been given over to a 3rd party to provide over the internet......

hey that is what SaaS is about - providing software as a freaking SERVICE and making it available over the freaking INTERNET at a cheaper rate than you can do it in house!

so, wait...my pay information? that is right. this company -- www.talx.com will do that for you and guess what - they do if for 350 of the fortune top 500 in AMERICA.

wow.

SaaS is here. what is more important - your SSN or your email? your PAY INFORMATION like what FREAKING BANK is your money sent to or.....your contact list in email? hmmm...tough one...

so, what really shook me though was that the company Talx was recently bought out by Equifax. yeah...the credit information beast. unreal.

so, now, my credit info and my pay info is housed at one location? brilliant.

just freaking brilliant.

have you seen the movie "Maxed Out"? it is like "SuperSize Me" but about the Credit industry. scary stuff.

anyway. in the interest of lowering my blood pressure - i am going to try to write a bit more often. maybe one of these days i'll relearn how to write a story.

no promises though.
