LAS VEGAS: SUN MAR 6 2005

Mar 06, 2005 23:59

Sunday we slept in a little later to recover from the previous night and just to relax a little from the first couple action-packed days. :)

We had tickets for the 4:30 performance of Mystère, a Cirque du Soleil show, at Treasure Island. Around 3:30 we headed down the street to TI. Angela & Mike picked up their tickets, then we grabbed some smoothies & ice cream and waited for showtime. The show was great! If you are familiar with Cirque du Soleil, I don't really need to explain the format.
If you aren't familiar, I don't have the time or space here to explain it. haha ;-) But the performers were spectactular and the music was excellent. Maybe I'll have to get the soundtrack. :) It makes Imaginique look like a kiddie show though. The show lasted about an hour and a half. It was very enjoyable, but it was also sort of exhausting, mentally, just keeping up with all the action. That evening, we met up with a few of Dan & Matt's friends and had dinner at this nice restaurant in some Casino, I can't remember where or what it was called. They did have this huge tubes of beer though that you could get and they'd place them in the middle of the table with a tap. A bunch of us had chicken stir fry, it was yummy.

That night we went to Freemont Street in old/downtown Las Vegas. They've basically taken this one street and put a huge roof over it where they do light shows every so often at night. Each show is different, some are patriotic, some have other themes. It's kinda cool to watch. But you can walk up and down the street and they have various shops and musical performers and casinos... nothing fancy. Here's a pic of us in front of the "4 Queens" casino (HAHA) and some still shots of a light show. There are also some links to some phone videos of the light shows.

We hung out there until around midnight. At that point, some of us went home and chilled for a while, while some others went out to a local gay bar [basically a place like the Garage ;-) ].
