Reach out and touch someone

Okay, so that's tonight's theme. Why's that? Well, let's see...

An old friend Lee is in town for a few weeks. He's one of the first people I met when I moved here, back when he was a lil underage kid sneaking in the bars. haha These days he's in the US Coast Guard, traveling the country and the world, sowing his seed, beating up some Haitians, and drinking dry Puerto Rico's alcohol supply. He's currently stationed in New Hampshire, right outside Boston, but he's back down here for a few weeks. Hopefully we'll get to hang out some while he's here... his mom lives like 5 minutes down the street. :op

Last night I also talked to my friend Jared (another WV expatriate) in NYC. We hung out with him a little last year when we were up there for the Blackout. Before that I hadn't seen him since 1999/2000. He called a couple weeks ago and said I could come up and visit again soon. I'd been thinking about it for a while, but it became a better possibility when he called me first. =) I'm working on those plans now... hopefully for August... definitely excited about it... details coming soon!!!

My last "reach out and touch someone" highlight for the night comes from WV. A friend of mine from my hometown, Chuck, got an AOL USB phone. They don't have cable internet or DSL in my hometown, and cell phone reception is sketchy at best, so it's a good way for him to call me. haha :) It was actually pretty clear quality, considering he's on a 26.4k dialup connection. It was nice to hear him too! I managed to hook up my video camera for him to see me, but I don't have a working mic right now and the audio from the camera didn't carry through. Oh well. But I did notice one funny thing... either his accent is getting thicker or mine is thinning out (or morphing I guess, these Virginians have a certain way of speaking too)... not sure which. It jumped out at me though. But all through junior high and high school, we'd spend hours on the phone every night. So it's kinda funny just to hear his voice again. (and yes, before you ask, he's totally straight and has a cute little baby son)

Besides that, things are pretty normal. Work hasn't been very fun lately. I wanted to go out for a drink tonight, but my best drinking partner is out of town, and Lee decided to go to bed early (some tired excuse about being used to going to bed early for the USCG ;-) j/k). Oh well.

I like this one new (?) song now called "Take me out" by Franz Ferdinand. It has a classic sound with a bit of a twist, or something. I've been playing it in the car lately, gets me worked up for some reason. :)

But it'll be bedtime soon. I've been on this weird kick lately where I've been sleeping on the couch (intentionally) and not in my bed. I did that a lot when I was in Huntington too. I dunno. Tonight I may try to go back to the bed, we'll see.

That's all I guess. See, no political comments today!! Have a good one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
