Thoughts

OK --- so I did some thinking over the weekend. Yeah, I know that usually gets me in trouble, but I still do it --- all the time.

Thought one: Rather random, but interesting implications. In math, "is" means "=". So, when someone tells me "God is love", I almost instinctively think "God = Love". Not a big deal, you would think. Except, this weekend, I turned it around. If God = love, then love = God. If love = God, then perhaps people should try taking love a little more seriously. Debates have been focused on whether God is or if we humans created him to suit our own purposes. Well, if love is God, then every time we "make love" --- we create an experience with God. May just be a small piece of the big picture, but, then --- I would argue that is all we ever see anyway. MAybe the ancients weren't so wrong in incorperating sex rituals into their worship. After all, what better way to praise a creator than to imitate him --- even if it is on a much smaller scale and a simple as (pro)creation. Maybe, just maybe, if people thought about the ramifications, who knows --- they just might decide to work things out, choose to give it another shot --- or, at the very least, be a little more careful about the mate they pick in the first place.

Related thought: was talking to someone about church and "speaking in tongues" and some other stuff. They thought it was just for that day and time. No longer a true manifestation of God at work on the earth --- or something like that. I guess my whole mindset is: if it allows you to feel connected to God, if it is a method through which some people come to know or have a "deeper" experience God, then good for them. As I mentioned briefly above, all we see are small pieces of the big picture anyway. God is vast enough that, theoretically, every being who worships a spiritual diety could, in essence be worshipping the same one: they just happen to be viewing a different facet of him/her (whatever they call it). I could make arguements that even religions that worship multiple dieties are still just seeing different facets of the one. So, if tongues, chanting, praying, outdoor activity, sex, meditating, whatever works for you. Great! Then it works for you. It may or may not work for the guy down the street. Which is why forced religion never works. And also why most people are convinced there way is the only way and will kill you over it, if you disagree too vehemently (think about every war that has been fought in the name of God --- which reminds me: watch Kingdom of Heaven if you haven't already).

Next thought: life is so much easier when you figure out what roles people are supposed to play in your life. Of course, then there is always the role-changers: people who play a role for awhile and then switch without telling you. LOL. Always fun stuff. Recently reanalized a role of a girl in my life --- from potential g/f to definately just friends, almost like a sister, if you will. Of course, if I treated her as a sister, then she would get upset and say that isn't how you treat girls, or that isn't what you should say to them. Confusing. To say the least. Can someone pass her the memo that she needs to make up her mind? In the meantime, I move on. I don't have time for crap like that --- life is too short.

hmmm... I think that is all for now.

I'm out!
