Superheroes

So, back from Captain America in 3D... it was a good comic book movie but if I have to pick a recent Marvel hero movie as the best it would have to be Iron Man. Thor was good, just like Capt. America was but I could rewatch Iron Man dozens of times and still enjoy it. The Avengers teaser was fantastic and I am so looking forward to 2012. But the 3D sucked and I have no interest in seeing anything else in the format again. I will say I would not mind seeing Capt. America in 2D before it leaves the theaters.

On to other super heroes... so I have expressed my love of the Wonder Woman here before and my outrage at the DC reboot of her story, history and costume. I continue to be annoyed that they cannot get a movie made when I KNOW I could write a DAMN GOOD WW movie script with the back story and everything... why the hell can't the professionals? And then there is the new DC universe reboot that looks to continue the comic book suck of the character. And lastly, just for fun there was the failed WW television pilot. Produced/created by David E. Kelly... you know, the guy who created Ally McBeal, the neurotic 90's 'female icon'. They recently had videos up on DailyMotion of some of the pilot and god was it bad (story can still be found at The Mary Sue).

The reason I bring WW up is that she and Capt. America have some of the same back story - they were both created for fighting Nazis during WWII and are dressed in the flag. Why we can have one get a major motion picture (where the hero is a guy) and one not even get a decent TV show (where the hero is a woman) sort of smacks as sexist, or lazy... you choose.

Maybe one day I will get the awesome WW movie of my dreams, but then again, maybe not. As long as it isn't anything like the dead TV pilot or the current WW comic I'd be happy.
