Maybe Andre the Giant will come help us

The days are ticking away and I’m doing my best to keep the moments from slipping by. It’s been a while since my last post, but the past few weeks have not been without excitement. I think for the sake of time and out of respect for the growing population plagued with ADD I’ll go for the list format perfected by Paul (speaking of which, where are you? Did you make it home from your cross country trip? Obviously the three hour tour of New York wasn’t great enough to write about huh? Guess next time I’ll leave you stranded on an island with a moron, a few coconuts, and a boat with a hole in it!)

In a particular order, although some items may be partially skewed, hazy, forgotten, or made up (inquire if there's anything you want to know about in detail) some items may be added later as i'm struck with fleeting thoughts and memories:
June 17: Dawn and I went to Hartford to see Bo Rosa. We sat in the worst traffic jam of my life. Stop and go turned a 2 hour trip into a 4. Now i know what it's really like to travel on the East Coast. We ate at a decent Mexican place for dinner...mmmm.
June 18: We went to Six Flags, had a good time, lost Bo’s season pass, luckily it only cost 15 bucks and I’m sure a ton of Bo’s time to replace… I felt like a moron! Then Dawn and I caught a Dave Matthews Band show.
June 19: The show was good on Saturday night, but we decided to get crazy and stay for the second night… we waited until the last minute and got outstanding tickets!
June 20: Drove back to NY insanely early! Went to school dawg tired :)
June 22: We saw Tom Petty and the Black Crowes in New Jersey. The Black Crowes sucked (considering I saw them at Music Fest and the rocked, I was very disappointed). Tom Petty, however, was awesome… highly recommend seeing him if you haven’t already! It was my second show
June 23: My last day of school :( it was very sad to see all my children leave for the last time. I’ll miss them a ton. Even the pains-in-the-asses. I had some really good closure with some problem students. It made for a good end of the year!
June 24 - 26: I think we walked around the Upper West Side, joined one of my Ex-teachers, Luke Rawlings, for dinner, ate out thai food on Friday, ate the leftovers on the roof of school (very nice!).
June 28: Ate thai again at a shwanky place in Brooklyn called “Sea” (Same place I ate at on Friday but that location is right near school). Watched a magic show in Washington Square park with Clare on her birthday. Saw a pirate (immediately following a discussion with Clare about a friend of hers who dresses like a pirate)… it was a little strange. Only one of many coincidences including juggling flames, a clown, and ballet.
June 30: Summer school started. We were supposed to have 30 kids, but they forgot to send out applications, so we ended up with 5. Oh well, works for me, less kids, same pay, fewer work hours!
July 1: Dawn and I went out for a fancy-shmancy dinner at a nice Italian restaurant and then went to see “Avenue Q” which was totally hysterical. Very much enjoyed! It isn’t a show for the faint of heart or the close minded, but there’s just something innately funny about a puppet singing about “what to do with a BA in English”.
July 2: We went to a street fair and did a little shopping. I finally got a copy of a poster of Grand Central I’ve been wanting since I got here!
July 3: Bronx Zoo. Considering it’s just a few blocks from my house, I figured I should go. It was nice. Overall, I still like Memphis the best, but it had its high points. The gorilla exhibit was very well done, although it was crowded when we were there. It was much more like a park than the Memphis zoo, very much like the New Orleans Zoo. Imagine if the animals were actually IN Overton Park (you’ll also have to imagine that there’s no druggies there either). We rode the “skyfari” that took us across the whole zoo on a lift. It really wasn’t worth the wait, but it was free. Br. Bill has a free membership that includes all the rides and we got to skip in line for some of the exhibits. Not bad!
July 4th: Celebrated in style by watching the fire works from the roof of school. Macy’s puts out barges along the east side from 23-42 (about a mile) and around South Street Seaport (at the end of Wall St. on the East side) and at Battery Park (On the lower west side where you leave to take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty). It’s neat because they’re all synchronized. Quite a spectacular show!
Today: Work as normal :(

10 days left and counting :)

Check back soon for: What did I do, what didn’t I do, what should I do OR I feel like a dog chasing my tail
