It's a weird week in southern California, with some summerlike heat coming through. But it was also Super Bowl weekend, and this week's picture of the week is from Sunday:
We host a Super Bowl party every year as a tradition I started back in Blacksburg claiming an event that nobody else I knew really did, and this one has grown to a monster, with 30-40 people over. It was a gorgeous day which meant we got to have games outside and keep it from getting too noisy in the house. I got linked the idea for this dip spread online and was able to get the dishes in time to set it up, and it was a definite hit!
Sunday the 31st was cool and rainy, but Monday the 1st the change started as the heat and wind moved in. At lunch one sole umbrella was left open while the rest of them were folded down to avoid the wind.
Tuesday night was of course Mage Knight. This one got interesting when the terrain drew out with a line of water. Fortunately we managed to find a way to pass the terrain and end up with a pretty good game.
Party prep began in earnest on Wednesday night as I made the trip to Subway to order the sub for the party: this year I moved up from six feet to nine feet (with gluten free entrees from Daphne's as well) and there really wasn't much leftover. Lots of hungry game watchers to feed!!
Ryan couldn't make it Thursday night so David and I did a few two player games (this one was pretty but only so-so), and had a great chat afterward. It's been a while since I had a nice long "life, the universe, and everything" chat into the night!
I thought it'd be fun to take an in-action shot of the car dropping its top on Friday since it was super warm. The shot didn't really work like I wanted it to, though. I think I'll try it again sometime and maybe get the angle or the "pose" of the car better.
Saturday was full party prep mode, with cleaning and setting up the outdoor furniture and everything!
And a Sunday bonus picture: SO MUCH LEFTOVER FOOD! Though weirdly, we seem to have misplaced a big bin of chocolate macadamia nut clusters... still can't find it...
