Very nice yesterday. Started out Adopting A Highway with...not coworkers, because I was the only one from our building there, but other people under the parent company. People kept finding money. Two kids found $20s and an adult found a one. My theory is the owner of the company salted the area to gin up interest for next time. After about 90 minutes of actual work we headed to a local bar for a company sponsored lunch (cleaning up highway embankments makes one hungry and thirsty).
Then Sister #2 and I went down to Maple Grove for a Trader Joe's visit. The nearby complex that houses a Whole Foods also now has a World Market. I went in looking for one item only: Tim Tams. I left with 4 boxes. <3 In my defense, I've had a way more expensive box in my cart at Amazon for months. The last time I had some was like eight years ago when a supervisor at work had been given a box by a client and had no idea of the treasure she was giving away. Before then, like 12 years ago when my beloved Ezza sent me some from Australia.
After that we doubled back to St. Michael for a casino party. It was held in the gym of their Catholic middle school, which is a new one to me. Previous oddest place I've worked a casino party: a company Christmas party at a closed-for-the-evening Home Depot, in the aisles with all the raw uncut wood. (Hee hee hee.)
I work for a few different casino party companies, all with slight tweaks to the evening. This one has a higher base pay but doesn't allow tip jars. However, the hosts had put one of each gaming table already, with $20 in small bills. So I found my own $20 after all! I dealt 3-card poker. Had a dude give me a $20 saying he didn't have anything smaller. I offered to make him change, he declined, and got a flush on the next hand. Pays 3:1 on the side bet. Hello, karma. Another dealer got $60 from one dude. (Which is more than we get paid by the company for the night.) So, good party all around. Especially when they offered us access to the buffet after everything was done.
Only bad part was trying to negotiate St. Michael, which I've never been to before. Google Maps wouldn't work until I did an update, and it was still broken after that. Telling me to do a u-turn and then take a left. Like, I could have just taken a left in the first place...? Telling me to take a right into a one-way. Whatever, it got me home eventually.
Today I have to do all that stuff put off yesterday. Top of the list: putting away the groceries I got last night. We got back to town at midnight last night, so.
