Japan’s exports dropped 47% because NOBODY’s buying.  Here’s the stats on Japanese car makers:

    Toyota - down 57.1% in January from a year earlier
    Honda - down 46.3%
    Nissan - down 62.1%
    Mitsubishi - down 77.4%
    Mazda - down 72.1%
    Suzuki - down 56.1%
• The Japanese stimulus bill?  Start with a $130 handout per person and start buying!

I despair at the idea of people doing this sort of madness; sex-selective abortions and fetal selection  by immigrant families in America because - well, their culture prizes boys over girls.  Part of cultural selection norms many hundreds of years old that prize boys over girls as breadwinners in older age for you, and so on.

Silliness in boundaries, where fusses first created before 1750 have made the boundaries between India and Bangladesh a serious mess of someone-else’s problem.  Of course, this all should have been settled out long ago…

No, really.  This is.  A web friend who adopted a young girl from China who is deaf (but has cochlear implants) posted this on her blog, and it took my breath away.    It’s the story of a deaf girl who wants to learn how to play the violin…watch it.  it is about four minutes long, BTW.  From Thailand…
