Some months ago,  we and the other Meredith’s family were contacted by a prominent reporter for NEWSWEEK to be part of a story about a twin study that has been going on by Dr. Nancy Segal of Cal State Fullerton.  (We’ve been in the separated twin study for a number of years.)  When she heard the details on the kids, the reporter decided to amp up our part in it rather considerably.

So both families have been talking and corresponding with the NEWSWEEK reporter for a while.  The story is supposedly to be half Segal’s work, and half on the twins as a case-in-point.  We’ve been told it’s not going to be their cover article, but one never knows, and we have no idea as to when it will run.

The reporter and photographer (who has been NEWSWEEK’s White House pool guy and won all sorts of awards) were to come in to town on Thursday night before Duckon, and meet us briefly and retire back to their hotel nearby, and there would be some sort of caravan to Midway Airport to pick up Meredith Ellen and her dad Mike.  They were to hang around for the bulk of the day, and Mike and I (with possibly the twins and Susan) were to be at opening ceremonies for the con in nearby Naperville, and the kids would have adjoining rooms at the con hotel and hang out for the weekend - either at the con or nearby.

Mere (ours) would then go out with us to Midway airport, and fly back with Meredith Ellen and her dad to Alabama for a week of fun down there.

So I can report now that the reporters are gone (I believe they will run into the Alabama folks next week) that We’ve Been Busy with the gear-up for this.   Very busy.  And we’re tired, and the con hasn’t even started yet!  Lots of discussion, lots of kid pictures.   Very nice people.
