Johnny's Jr

Potato 2 2012

Johnny’s Jr.

We can do it!

Yuta Jinguji

Speaking of something I’m good at, I think that would be my black belt in karate. It’s my weapon, so I want to continue it. We practice hitting the “mit”, which is kind of like a cushion, but it feels good and serves as my outlet of stress. Things I’m not good with… I don’t really have one. If I had to say one, maybe it would be bugs. Squiggly worms and snakes are creepy because they don’t have legs and move weirdly (laughs). Recently, I’m really into Kinki Kids songs. Koichi-kun and Tsuyoshi-kun are both really cool, and they have nice voices, and I really admire them. The song I like the most is “Family~Hitotsu ni Narukoto~.” Whenever I listen to it, it makes me feel peaceful. In 2012, I want to challenge school dramas and acting!

Fu Takahashi

Something I’m good at is head spins in break dancing! There are many kinds of head spins, but I can do the “egg,” the “manji,” and the “drill.” I’m practicing a harder kind called the “diamond,” but it’s really hard to balance. Something I’m not good at is language arts. I can do kanji, but I’m bad at reading comprehension. A ad recent fun event is that I did curling during a location shoot for “Johnny’s Jr. Land.” We had a competition, and our team won! I’ve never done winter sports before, so I want to challenge skiing or snowboarding, and ice skating!

Yuta Kishi

I’m good at brightening the environment! Anything becomes brighter if I make a lot of noise, and I also want to make people laugh in the classroom. My ultimate weapon is to yell, “Fire!” like Ohnita Atsushi-san. The room goes really quiet, but I actually got used to that (laughs). I’m not good with larvae, frogs, or reptiles. If I met one on the road, I would run away for sure! Especially, I really hate the Black Spotted Pond Frog. It’s so big and gross~ (shiver). Recently, I’ve been eating a lot due to my growth spurt. I can eat anything anytime. Even though I eat breakfast, it’s hard to appease my appetite until lunch (laughs). My favorite is an omelet rice with beef stew on top, and I often go to the restaurant to eat it!

Koki Furubayashi

I’m confident about my tennis, which I started in 7th grade! At first, I had trouble adjusting the amount of power I put in when I hit the ball, but now I’ve got the rhythm and rallies have become fun! I have my first official match soon. By the time this Potato is on sale, the results would have already came out… I hope I win! I’ll report on the results next time. …I’m really bad with home economics. I’m not good with my hands, so cooking and sewing don’t go well for me. I become sad every time I have to go to that class (cries). A recent event is that I began dance lessons, once or twice every week! I love Hey! Say! JUMP songs, so I want to be able to dance like that soon.

Genki Iwahashi

I’m good at baseball. I started in kindergarten, and continued through middle school, but recently, the last big match ended and I retired. We scored second place! My position is pitcher or infielder, etc. I can also memorize English vocabulary words pretty quickly. I can memorize them by just looking at the vocabulary packet. I’d forget after a few days, though (laughs). I like English, so I even buy books and study at home. Something I’m not good at is talking to people. I’m shy, so it’s hard for me to talk to someone if I meet them for the first time… But I like being alone, so I don’t really mind that much (laughs). I’m thinking of going to volunteer at Miyagi, an area affected by the earthquake, with someone I know soon. I want to help out by cleaning up broken houses and other things like that.

Amu Haniuda

I’m good at organization. The cleanliness of my room is probably number one out of the Juniors. The trick to cleaning is to separate the things you need from the things you don’t, and throw away the things that you haven’t used for over a year! With only this trick in mind, the room becomes really clean, so I want other people to try it too. What I’m not good at is… group activities (laughs). Joking around with friends from school and the Junior members is fun, of course. But I think that having your own time allows you to grow, so I want to save that time for myself no matter what. A recent event is that I danced in the back of Sexy Zone in the “FNS Music Festival.” I was able to spend some quality time, and I was really happy!

[Theme park] After my friend came back from the theme park and told me about it, I watched a show about it on television, and I really want to go. I hope I can go during winter break. [I want to draw!] This is not something I should say about myself, but I’m pretty good at drawing. Recently, I’ve been sketching whenever I have time. I’m also interested in art equipment, so whenever I’m in those kinds of stores, I forget about the time. Out of all the art I drew in 2011, my best one would be the mountain bike. I was able to draw it so well that it looked like it was going to pop out of the paper and start running (laughs). [Studying] The other time, since I got a good grade on my history test, studying has become pretty fun for me. In the new semester, I want to conquer math, which I’m not very good at. I actually hate to lose. [Recent events] In 2012, my goal is to work on my acting and be in a drama.

Mizuki Inoue

[Someone who’s good at dancing] Goseki (Kouichi)-kun and Yamamoto (Ryota)-kun are both good, but the best is obviously Yara (Tomoyuki)-kun! I watch the “Takizawa Kabuki” DVD and look at Yara-kun’s dance as a reference. [The contents of my bag] I don’t want to carry something heavy while we’re on the move, so I always check to see if I don’t have any unnecessary things in it. But this week, I lost my schedule for class and had to bring all of my text books to school every day, so it was really heavy… [The schedule for school lunch] I look at it often and determine if I need to eat a lot for breakfast depending on the menu (laughs). My favorite menu is fried potatoes with minced meat. [Recent events] I challenged Double Dutch in “Johnny’s Jr. Land.” (Morimoto) Shintaro-kun and (Takahashi) Rin-kun were really good at it. I didn’t do very well during practice, but I succeeded during the actual performance, so that was good~

Rei Wakiyama

[Jacket] The leather rider’s jacket that I found in a shop the other time was so cool that it’s not leaving my brain. It was expensive, but good quality, and looked like I could wear it for a long time, so I’m furiously debating whether I should get it or not. [Snowboarding] I’m planning to have my cousin take me during winter break. The last time I went was four years ago, so I’m worried if my body remembers how to snowboard. [Surfing] Like snowboarding, my cousin taught me how to surf. Recently, I’ve been wanting to ride the waves again. I’m actually pretty good (laughs). [Recent events] Akanishi Jin-kun’s live DVD was really cool. I really got pulled into it, and started to think about working hard on my dancing more. In 2011, “New Spring Takizawa Revolution” was really fun, and so I want to be able to impress everyone with dance moves in 2012.

Shota Kawasaki

[A backpack shaped like a dinosaur] I’m crazy about the pink backpack with spikes that I bought online. When I put it on, it looks like a dinosaur and it’s really cute. When I’m wearing simple clothes, it can become an accent, and if I’m wearing eccentric clothes, it can become fun and pop. I love it so much that I’m thinking of getting a purple one (laughs). [Making sweets] I’m interesting in making a whole cake. When I’m done making it, my dream from when I was little is to eat the whole thing by myself. First, I have to get the recipe for it. [Smiles] If I get nervous onstage or during shoots, my problem is that my smiles become awkward. I’ve been practicing in front of the mirror in order to smile nicely. Please anticipate my progress. [Recent events] I want to work hard on my dancing in “The Shonen Club.”

Kei Kurita

[I love SMAP!] I love SMAP, so I watch “SMAP X SMAP” every week! My favorite segment is when the guest comes and when they sing together. The other time, they were singing their new song, “Boku no Hanbun,” and they were really cool! I bought a waterproof CD player, so I’ve been listening to SMAP’s album inside the bath tub! [Recent events] My seat at school is great, so I don’t want to change seats! It’s really fun to go to school because my best friend and someone who says really funny things sit near me. But since we’re too friendly with each other, I think the teachers have their eyes on us (laughs)!? In 2012, I want to increase things I’m good at. During Takizawa-kun’s stage play (“Takizawa Kabuki”), I tried juggling, but I want to practice more and make it something I’m good at. Also, I want to work harder on acting!

Reia Nakamura

[Clothes] Whenever I have Jr. activities, I change after school. Even though I can choose my clothes after I get home, I end up checking to see if they’re dry in the morning. [Time] I check the time often! I hate waiting so I don’t want other people to wait either. The shop keeper at the shop I went to for my work experience also told me, “To be strict on time is the most important thing”! [Recent events] I used to take oil painting classes, but I’ve been hooked recently on pencil illustrations that show light and shadows. Oh, and when I was meeting with Wakiyama the other time, even though he was late, he said, “Although I hate waiting, I love making someone wait!” so I was really surprised (laughs). Wakiyama might look a little scary, but he’s actually being picked on by me and Kuri-chan (Kurita Kei).

Saneyasu Takahashi

[I’m interested in that TV show!] I loved a particular drama and used to watch it every week! Not only the main character, but the other characters were also unique, and it was a really good drama. In 2012, I want to check out the new dramas and find a favorite. [Recent events] The other time, there was a parent-teacher-student meeting at school, and I was praised a lot by my teacher. Actually, a while ago during the sports festival, my teacher scolded me when I was teasing my friend. From that day on, I’ve been behaving like a good student. The teacher told me that my attitude improved, so I was happy. As for Jr. activities, I’m going to be part of “The Shonen Club” soon, so I want to improve my dancing. Recently, I’ve been listening to Tackey&Tsubasa songs, and they’re really cool! I’ll work on my singing and dancing in order to become like them.

Kaoru Kuramoto

[Manga] I buy weekly manga every week. I actually like reading a lot, and I especially like manga. I like action manga, but I basically read any genre. [Inoue Mizuki] I can’t help checking how much his hair grew every time I see him. I want to watch his cute bald hair grow longer and mature. With motherly eyes, even though we’re the same age (laughs). [A senior I respect] I used to be on the duller side, so I want to be bright like Aiba (Masaki)-kun. (Kikuchi) Fuma-kun is cool and good at dancing and singing, and he’s funny, so I really love him! [Recent events] In the movie, “LOVE Masao-kun Ga Iku,” I was able to act with SMAP’s Katori-san, and that was a happy event for me. Katori-san’s acting is really amazing, and he even asked me things like, “How’s school?”

Ryuichi Tanimura

[Chubby English teacher] There’s a funny English teacher, and sometimes he talks in English the whole time except for the important parts. When he asks us questions, we have to answer in English so it’s hard listening to him, but it is okay if you say “I’m sorry” (laughs). Also, he was saying, “Recently, I’ve become fat. I’ll work on dieting, so you guys should work on your English too,” and I laughed at that one. I love how he treats every one of the students equally. [Recent events] In 2012, I’ll enter middle school, so I want to work on my studies. I took an entrance exam after kindergarten to get into elementary school, so I go up grade by grade in an escalator style, but it’ll be embarrassing to lose to someone who came from outside, and I don’t want the reason for my grade drop to be my Jr. activities. And I want to challenge something big and showy, or I want to find a new feat that I’m good at.
