Democrats could not keep their New Hampshire special elections streak going. The Republican won by a convincing margin, despite 17% of the vote going to the Libertarian. See
here for some background. There is one more New Hampshire special election scheduled in the near future, on September 20th.
In the next couple of weeks there are special elections for somewhat more important seats: a US House of Representatives seat in New York to replace the idiot Andrew Weiner, and one in Nevada to replace Dean Heller who was appointed US Senator when John Ensign resigned. Should either seat fall to the non-previous-incumbent party it would be newsworthy, if not particularly meaningful.
