Take the Slogans Quiz.

  • There's something about ... an Aqua-Velva Man (After shave)
  • Double your pleasure ... double your fun, with Doublemint, Doublemint, Doublemint gum
  • Baseball, Hotdogs ... Apple Pie and Chevrolet
  • A day without ... orange juice is like a day without sunshine. (Florida Orange Juice, Florida Citrus Commission)

  • Of course the latter is famous because the ad's actress was Anita Bryant, who later because infamous for her anti-gay campaign. The slogan became embedded in the culture. A famous derivative was "A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle."

Bizarrely, the Wikipedia entry for Bryant indicates that the quote is "Breakfast without ...", even though in a video of the commercial the quote is "a day without..."

Here's a video of an older Aqua Velva Man commercial.

According to Wikipedia, the Doublemint ads began in 1956 and featured twins. They were definitely still running when I was growing up in the 60's.

An old Chevrolet video, from 1975.
