My own visit to Chicago and Madison consisted of meetings (mathematical, work-related), discussions, abstract work, walking and walking while discussing the time when Model Theory was on the verge of becoming Set Theory, back around 1970, and was saved from that dreadful fate (?) by stability theory - or about a thousand other things. A long day thinking - preparing for the big meeting in Chicago. Had to tinker on an example, build an adaptation of our proof for lecture. Only had the time for part of what I needed to do!

I had no idea that Ax (Emanuel) was born in Lviv, Ukraine! I thought he had been born in the US. But Ax is a Central European name - in mathematics, J. Ax of Ax-Kochen appears very often in connections between Model Theory and Number Theory.
