This is such a belated post, but apparently I'm even lazier, in terms of blogging, when I'm on holidays than when I have a trillion assignments to do.
Last week
Natalie and I flew to Brisbane to see the Valentino Restrospective exhibition. Flying to another state and back in a day was an incredible mindfuck. It probably would have helped if I had gotten more than three hours of sleep, but I'm much more used to sleeping at 3:30am than waking up at that time. Also, first time flying on a budget airline, and LOL finally figured out why they're called budget airlines. I don't think I've ever seen a baggage claim area located in a shed, but I suppose when you're charging $60 a ticket, you've got to cut costs somewhere.
Regardless, it was worth it for all the pretty pretty clothes, aimless walking, sunbaking and the sushi train lunch we had, because that was pretty amazing too.
Unfortuantely we weren't allowed to take photos of the actual exhibition, so I can't even begin to describe how beautiful the clothes were. All handmade with love, I think we left vowing to wear Valentino on our wedding days. Vintage Valentino still counts as vintage, doesnt it?
A couple of stand-outs included a red late-1950s prom dress and yellow silk concoction worn by Audrey Hepburn, but really all of it was so breath-taking. It almost makes me cry when I realise that I'll never be surrounded by Valentino again.
We also attempted to explore Brisbane through our haze of tiredness.
Found some pretty architecture.
And the most amazing pool I've ever seen, called the Streets Beach. Basically an outdoor pool, complete with sand, both in and surrounding the pool, and lifeguards.
Honestly though, it doesn't feel like I flew to another state and back. Kind of feels like I fell asleep on the train and woke up in a strange part of Melbourne.
