As the party season starts to wind down, my days are becoming increasingly monotonous. It doesn't help that I'm still addicted to Sims 3, which is the source of blame for my messed up sleeping patterns. As an unemployed bum, I literally sleep when the sun rises. I don't think I'd be able to sleep without the sound of birds waking up.

My hands are itching to make, paint or create something, however there are so many things running through my head that all that ever comes out is a lump of procrastination. Luckily Alexander McQueen has finally come to my rescue. I'm sure many of you will have seen some of his Spring/Summer 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection, or at least an image of his outrageous shoes. After all the Balmain knock-offs, you know, all those tight, skimpy bandage dresses, tops with weird cut-outs, black black black with lots of studs studs studs because it's the come-back of the 1980's super bitch, I'm so over it. McQueen's spring collection is like a breathe of fresh air. I can't really remember the specifics, but I think I recall that he was inspired by either reptiles or deep sea creatures or maybe both (which will explain the hair and makeup).

Sure, the collection is kind of weird and creepy, but take away the hair, makeup and shoes and Holy Crap you've got amazing, wearable clothes. I think what I love most is that each piece is very structured but very soft at the same time, with wisps and flutters of chiffon peeking out here and there. There are a handful of designers that have really dived into digital printing, Josh Goot and Basso & Brooke come to mind, but I think McQueen has really topped it. Look at that colour! That detail! Those embellishments! Those shoes that look like crab hands!

In a time where fashion is more about the money than the art, Alexander McQueen is exactly what I needed.
