Being the huge 1950s fan that I am, it's no surprise that I love what John Galliano has done for the Christian Dior Fall/Winter 2009 Haute Couture show. This season, Galliano took inspiration from backstage photos of models changing and, in particular, the lingerie of that period. This is especially evident in the sheer skirts with peek-a-boo garters and bullet bra-esch bustiers that were sent out this season. Despite the fact that tight corsets and heavy crinolines have been claimed to chain women down, I've always favoured the silohouette of that decade. Due to the brilliance of Galliano, this season's haute couture collection is soft and feminine without relinquishing any of that power-woman feel.
Just as a side note, I'd wear the huge pink skirt in a heartbeat.
