I've noticed that the older I get the less I see people as individuals.
Instead I see them as combinations of people I've already met. Someone's nose or smile or voice or dislikes of certain foods brings to mind another place, another name, another time. If I know them long enough, the feeling is reduced down to ghost and they become their own person who someone else reminds me of and I think this feeling is probably shared among the people I meet.
Who are they seeing when they look at me?
Was I someone they loved?
Someone they'de prefer to forget?
I suppose I'll never know.
