OMFG!
Let me give a bit of background before I go into why i'm so happy. My "real" manager (Leanne) has gone on maternity leave and our acting manager is an ex military officer (Dan). Well, Dan is extremely hard to read and come across as very intimidating to say the least! Still I always knew he was happy with the work that I did and he repeatedly stated as much in our conversations and in my performance reviews. He is the one who not only decided to keep me on in this company (after all of my original team/department/area was let go), but also looked over the career plan I presented to him and decided to send me to classes to get 2 certifications as a Oracle Database Administrator, and also to move me into a programming department and train me as a Web Developer using (JSF, Struts, Hibernate, Eclipse, etc...).
Well, our HR lady just approached me and pulled me into a meeting room to look over the amendment they were making to my original contract. It indicated my new job responsibilities, my new team lead, new job title, etc... It didn't mention a raise i salary so I joked with her saying i'd hoped to see a bit of an increase in that area too. Apparently Dan wants to tell me, but she said she'd tell me anyhow and that I should just play dumb. Dan increased my salary by 10% effective immediately!!!! I'm so ecstatic!!! I ask you, is there any more PERFECT way to end a week? I'm SOOOO going out to celebrate tonight!!!
