Thank goodness for sisters. If if there were no sisters, I would have been one hot tragic mess last tuesday.
You see, Tuesday was by birthday. My 28th to be more specific. And you think after having 28 of them, they would start getting a bit redundant. But no. You wake up and expect the sun to beam down on you and the birds to sing a song of joyous occasion. Mine was the complete opposite. The weather was gross and there were no birds to be heard or seen. To make matters worse, my co-workers were getting on my last nerves and so many work issues plagued my mind. I was far from enjoying the anniversary of my coming into being.
This particular birthday was made special by many people. Of course, my two younger sisters who drove up to make my kitchen into Le Cupcake Cafe, complete with a menu which offered "le carne asada de fries, le chicken en waffles, chicken alfredo en broccoli, le nachos, le cheeseburger, and le pizza!" which of course are all my personal faves. I couldn't resist the good ol' chicken and waffles! They surprised me with my ultimate birthday cake. One made up of yum yum donuts. It was fantabulous. They truly made my day by driving all the way up from San Diego on a weekday and by cooking AND CLEANING to make the evening special. Thank you sisters!!!
Also we had a lovely dinner at Elephant Bar the night before with the Monera familia. Where ever we go, we roll deep. Monera from all parts of the globe drove to be there for me (or was it the food and ollie? hmmm! j/k) Thank goodness for Creme Brule birthday cakes! And my ultimate fave, my finger puppets of "THE GREATS" Dali, Monet, Frida Kahlo, and Van Gogh. Unfortunately I missed the Dali exhibit but April's souvenir for me and Ollie was just as good.
And of course my cheesy husband went to great efforts to plan a surprise snowboarding trip this weekend but failed miserably. My mom is planning a soiree for me on saturday without greg finding out until recently. We'll have to reschedule the snow fun for another weekend :/ Yes, I love my vacuum.
I don't know if it's the Mommy genes kicking in but I would have been perfectly content as long as Ollie's party went off without a hitch. I'm more excited about her bash that I forgot about my own birthday. It's funny because the little monkey probably won't even remember a thing. But that's what mommies do, i suppose.
There's so much I want to blog about but work and being a mother doesn't leave much time for any of that. Ollie's growing up so fast. I don't want to miss a moment of it.
