It was my favourite drama of the season...
Tells the story of Iwase Ken who's given many many chances to win his childhood friend Rei back,,,
On the wedding of his childhood friend, Ken couldn't stop regretting not confessing to Rei after all these years.
Typical - you-wont know-what-u've had-until u-lost-it scenario,
In the midst of the slide show presentation on Rei's life, a symphathetic fairy couldn't help not lending a hand
and gave Ken many many chances (10 to be exactt) to redeem himself and win Rei back.
Unfortunately, his aloofness & the presence of the groom Tada sensei does not make things any easier
and his message was not conveyed to Rei until the final episode ( When he realised it's the now-or never case)
Summary of eps
Ep 1- I promised that I would bring you to Koushien
Ken is transported back to his final baseball match in which past ken lost resulting in Rei's gloomy expression in the picture
Ep2 - An important person is sitting right beside me
My FAVOURITE episode.. Ken's unfruitful chase for coffee milk & THE birthday present
Ep 3- Thank you, Kenzou -kun
Cameron sensei & Tada's san short farewell... n the history of the nickname Kenzou
Ep 4 - ...is a proof of my high school life
A glimpse of Mikio's girlfriend, their high school graduation & the drama of the second button. ( why the second button? because it's the closest to the heart)
Ep 5- Those who said they'll do it tomorrow are idiots
World cup season & their first year in uni: Rei's ojichan visits her n the gang, Eri's new bf & jiji acknowledging Ken..& kiss
Ep 6: Parallel lines
Eri's heartbreak & since it involves Eri> it's Tsuru's too. A case of evil fate for both Ken & Rei
Ep 7 - Don't be afraid of getting three strikes now
Eri & tsuru's little start to a relationship, Ken asking Rei out for date & tada's confession
Ep 8- Don't Knock New York
With Ken's "supernatural powers", Mikio helps ken in operation love part II which results in Ken wanting to create a future where he doesn't need to attend the wedding at all..
Ep 9- It's expected if you fail, but you're a real man if you succeed
The scene which is repeated throughout the season, Rei-Ken-don't understand scene. Tada's proposal, Ken's rejection & mikio-girlfriend swinging hug
Ep 10 - I will take care of Rei for the rest of my life
Lil Ken's promise to lil' Rei. Elopement...or maybe not
Ep 11- Ask, and it shall be given
Last chance... Ken's confession & THE speech.
My VIEWS
I've never understand Rei.. never did even up till the last episode. What did she meant when she said Ken-zou didn't understand a thing. Well at least towards the end, she knew she was the one who gave up on Ken. Did she really like Tada-san or she likes Tada-san because he's being extra honest ie he confessed to her openly?
Of all characters, i dislike Rei the most. Although Ken is to be blamed for not confessing after so many years but at least in these 12 episodes, I can see he really tried to win her back but alas we can't changed fate that easily huh,,
My heart goes to Tada-san, although he's undeniably boring but he is a nice guy..
I love love Eri-Tsuru cute's relationship. Tsuru as what Mikio mentioned in ep 4, he does silly things all the time but occasionally he does gets a home run.That's why he got on with Eri...
Likes Mikio here too...although he ruin Ken's chances in the end he did make up for it..
The bantering between Mikio & Eri is also cute> thought they'll make a nice couple in the beginning.
BUt towars the middle, I figured Mikio will never betray Tsuru..
I mean those people really do have a strong friendship.
Thus, they feel weird when Ken's not around in Ep8.
And I like it how Tada-san respects & understands Rei's friendship with the gang.
Overall this series is RECOMMENDED
My favourite episdoe would be ep 2 where Ken runs all over the place looking for Coffee milk unsuccessfully and the moment he figures Rei's small note regarding his birthday present
And the speech is one of the must-watch scene. Some might say Ken is unreasonable n selfish for confessing druing Rei's wedding. But in my humble opinion, he's giving his blessings to the couple and it's much harder to let someone you love go (for her happiness sake) than to fight for it.
To ken-Rei' shipper > Brace yourself from episode 6 onwards... especially ep 8 & 9
