I have to say I predicted the ending, because it's the Romeo and Juliet setup, but oh man, did this one get me. Oh god. Honestly I thought at the end of OVA 2, when Kusaka tells Akizuki to close his eyes, that he was going to kill both of them. Except in the back of my mind I knew there was a whole third OVA, still, I was like...but then he killed his own ally and I was like WOAH, okay wow, this is going to get you into deep shit but you are so badass. And it totally broke my heart that Akizuki kept trying to kill himself again after that...after Kusaka risked so much for him ultimately destroying them both with that treacherous act...The cicada metaphor was quite poignant, like he knows all along this is a doomed love, born at the wrong time... *SIGH* Tragic dot com.
Also, the sex was EXTREMELY hot. EXTREMELY hot. I watched it several times in a row. Oh my god the scene in the field. Oh my god. :0...... And actually I thought the moment when they got caught was super hot, even though my stomach was in knots because I knew this was going downhill fast. Woot voyeurism. Nothing was as hot as that first time
I need icons for this. Such a beautiful love! The first kiss was so, so fucking hot. Actually I'm not doing justice to the first OVA, before sex and death and such...when they were both so pure and bright, such non-conformists in a country coming apart. This refreshed me on some Japanese history, just a bit. And thhe way their subtle love unfolded...I love the contrast between the aristocratic Akizuki and the rougher, yet gentle-souled Kusaka. In a weird way they remind me of Renji and Byakuya, also because they're both such badasses but such sweeties. I LOVED their secret English lessons. UWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! D:
