Yesterday I went to work with Matt. I went with him twice this week to get out a little. On Wednesday I got to use help him cut cover boards to put out in the woods to make a nice place for salamanders. They go later and check the under the boards to see if any salamanders are there- it's kind of like trapping without a trap that keeps them there- you just create a place that they want to be and see if they show up. They are also putting small pools in the ground to see if amphibians will breed there. That's what Matt's doing today. I'm cleaning the apartment a little and going grocery shopping, if I can ever get up and moving. I went to sleep for a little nap after Matt left for work and then found myself waking up at 10:30 after a string of crazy dreams. Yesterday when I went out with Matt and Bill they were checking their drift-fence and pitfall traps for snakes, lizards, salamanders. The weather was not quite right for herp movement, so we didn't catch anything, but the day was fun- tromping through the woods, driving through a beautiful upland woods with waterfalls, nice trees, and small canyons and streams, talking with Matt and Bill. Last night we met Bill and other people from A & M- Jill, Burger, John, and Jeff at a hot wings place and later went over to Bill, John, and Burger's house to sit around while some of them messed around with guitars and keyboards, play with John's dog, Gus, and shoot off quite a few fireworks that Bill and John had in their closets, including some of those bee things and a paratrooper who somehow got shot by "friendly" roman candles on his way down, only to be lost in a neighbor's yard (not on fire anymore, luckily).
Now I need to get some things done.
