Final Aflie Update (Huzzah Huzzah Huzzah!)

That cat... THAT CAT...

Remember my entry of 21st November? All is well, Alfie's healing just fine, bla bla bla? Yes. Sure. When he began sneezing food out of his nose and he was gasping for air, it was very obvious that he was not, so I rushed him first to our vet, and then directly to the clinic again. And guess what - the seems had burst. Which meant:

SURGERY NO. 3!

At that point, I was climbing the walls and tearing out my hair; costs aside, I did not see Alfie getting through a third big surgery. OK, I should have known my cat better, but a bit of hysteria can be forgiven under such circumstances.

So Alfie had yet another surgery, his throat was reshaped (ouch), and last Thursday, he had his final check up. And I am very, very, VERY happy to tell you that

ALL IS FINE!

Yes, all has healed, no regrowths, no burst seams, no unforseen complications, no rare side effects, no nothing. Alfie's fit and healthy, and so the Gods willing, he can live another 20 years. And he has to, working off his debts. :P

He's also gained some weight, is over 3kg again, and fit and happy. Now that he can breathe again, he's chasing all and sundry around the place, preferably at 4am. Fun! And all through his ordeal, he's stayed the coolest cat imaginable. While I was whinging, he was calmly polishing his claws, so to speak.

He's still sneezing, and probably always will, but that's no problem, I'm fine with that. It has become so little, and he's not choking on it anymore. Wiping his nose three times a day is really no biggy.

So I'm a very, very happy Molly right now (though exhausted), and I can only thank all of you once again for your support, and for having a big heart for a little cat. For once, we have a Happy End. Huzzah!

I'm leaving you with some Alfie-pictures (the tiny black kitty is Iman, an old friend of Pablo's who was left behind in the killing shelter in Bilbao, and took dear Charlie's place - I'm a friend of family reunions. The pictures were taken four hours after her arrival, so as you can see, she was welcomed with open arms. Paws. And no, she's not a kitten. She's just tiny.)
